WINIFRED BLUNT

Winifred Blunt, 78, of Sapulpa, died Thursday at her home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Monday, at First Christian Church with Gerald Rendel, Russell Casey and Gary Gilmore officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

She was born March 23, 1914, in New Haven, Conn. A Sapulpa resident since 1922, she moved from Muskogee. She married Ben Blunt on August 15, 1944, in Lawton. A retired school teacher, she taught in Martha and Altus, Oklahoma, and Verona, Mo., schools. She was also a Women’s Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the First Christian Church, a member of Emanem Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers Associating. She was also the first recipient of the Sapulpa woman of the Year award. Mrs. Blunt was also an ombudsman for Sapulpa Nursing Homes.

Survivors include her husband, Ben; daughters, Rebekah Northrip of Sapulpa, Eugenia Simpson of Moore and Glennell Pickett of Gushing; sons Charles of Broken Arrow and Gary of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Charles H. Dunn of Owasso; fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.

Funeral services for Winifred Blunt were held at 10 am this morning in the first Christian Church with Gerald Rendel, Gary Gilmore and Russell Casey officiating.

Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Casket Bearers were Jim Brown, Ken Yarger, David Main, Sam Naifeh, Carroll Boyd and Morris Passmore.

Mrs. Blunt, a long-time resident of Sapulpa, died Thursday evening.
