Claude L. Bohannon, 95, of Maud, died Saturday, Dec. 2, at his home.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Danny Fredman and Frank Brewer officiating. Burial is to be in Cummings Cemetery, directed by Knight Funeral Home.
Mr. Bohannon was born March 25, 1900 in Burleson, AL, to Thomas Jefferson and Ada Paralee Grissom Bohannon. The family moved to Maud from Burleson in 1918.
Mr. Bohannon graduated from Maud High School in 1920. He worked as a grocer on the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch near Ponca City.
He married Ruth Lucille Watt on Sept. 7, 1923 in Newkirk. The couple bought a farm in Maud in 1945 and bought the Bohannon Family Grocery Store, established in Maud in 1928. They sold the store in March, 1969.
Mr. Bohannon was a member of the Maud Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and song leader.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Claude L. Bohannon Jr., of Wewoka, Thomas N. Bohannon of Alameda, CA, and Gary W. Bohannon of Maud; four daughters, Pauline Rackley of Claremore, Bonita Tucker of Sapulpa, Elaine Harris of Tuttle and Rosemary Blanton of Maud; a sister, Floy Brook of Springfield, MO; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
