THELMA BOYLES

CUSHING — Thelma Irene "Rene" Boyles, 97, of Stillwater, died Thursday in Stillwater.

Services will be 2 pm Monday at Southside Baptist Church, Stillwater, with the Revs. Larry Stafford and Roy Brown officiating.

Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, under the direction of Strode funeral Home.

She was born Oct 18, 1892, in Cushing and attended school there. She married Nelson M. Boyles Feb 8, 1911, in Stillwater. The couple moved to the Council Valley area, and moved to Sand Springs during the 1940’s.

She moved to Stillwater in 1945, and was a resident of Westhaven Nursing Home for the past 2 ½ years. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church, and was noted for her quiltmaking.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; two infant children and daughter Opal Nugent.

Survivors include sons Nelson and Clifford Boyles of Tulsa, Jack Boyles of Richmond, Va., Joe Boyles of Visalia, Calif., and Kenneth Boyles of Cleveland; daughters Helen Hilbert of Yale, Virginia Sikes of Sapulpa, Edith Hill of Ripley, Mel Henry of Ralston, Lois Furgason of Stillwater and Norma Brown of Rogers, Ark.; sisters Merle Blankenship of Mesa, Ariz., Sue Cookson of Whittier, Calif., and Opal Carlisle of Tahlequah; 38 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
