Paralysis Fatal To John L Brady
Sapulpa Pioneer
Funeral rites will be held here
Died in Hospital in Henderson, Tex.
John Lapsley Brady, 59, Sapulpa pioneer resident in the days before statehood, died in a hospital at Henderson, Tex., yesterday afternoon from paralysis.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for Friday afternoon in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Darner, 1121 East McKinley. Mrs. Garner is a niece of Brady.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hazel McClure Brady and a sister, Dr. Ella A. Brimer of San Diego, Calif.
Brady’s parents lived in Indian territory, long before statehood. Brady, himself, attended the first Presbyterian mission school in Tulsa, and later Oklahoma university.
He was one of the surveyors for the railroad connecting Sapulpa with Shamrock, also assisting county engineers in building the first steel bridges in Creek County. The second term after statehood, Brady served as county treasurer, with offices here. Since then, however, he has spent most of his time with the Tydol Oil Co., in Oklahoma and Texas.
Brady worked in a general store in Tulsa before statehood, and knew most of the people in the old Creek Nation, both Indian and whites, friends here stated today.
