Judge Brown Is Taken By Death This Afternoon
Former County Judge, City Court Judge, Pioneer Here Succumbs
Judge Warren H. Brown, age 77, city police judge, former county judge, a long time resident of Sapulpa and a veteran GOP party worker in Creek county, died shortly before 1 o’clock today in the Tulsa hospital following a short illness. He has been in poor health for some time. Judge Brown became ill several days ago and was taken to the hospital at Tulsa. He succumbed at about 12:35 today noon.
His brother, John Brown, of Tulsa, formerly connected with the Tulsa police force, preceded him in death in 1935.
Judge Brown’s wife died many years ago. He is expected to be brought back to Sapulpa for services. He will be buried beside his wife in
South Heights Cemetery.
Judge Brown came to Sapulpa in about 1908. He formed a law partnership with L. J. Burt, attorney. He was later elected county judge and served from about 1910 to 1913. He was county judge in Commanche county at Lawton prior to statehood before he came to Sapulpa. Judge Brown also was a law partner of the late Tom Reynolds.
In the early twenties he was school treasurer here.
He was born near Cameron, MO.
Judge Brown had no children.
He is survived by a niece Mrs. Carl Brown, of Braymer, MO, who was formerly Miss O’Lula Hanna for whom the St. Paul’s Methodist church circle was named. Other relatives include a brother-in-law, Charles Henderson, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hal Janson, both of Sapulpa.
Funeral arrangements were pending this afternoon.
