LAURISTON BURGESS

Lauriston (L. E. Shorty) Burgess, 81, 2515 s. Hickory, died Friday at his home.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Heights Cemetery with Boyce DeWitt officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

He was born March 16, 1909, in Lawrence, Mass., and lived in Sapulpa for 78 years.

Mr. Burgess was a self-employed painting contractor, a life member of the Tulsa Painters Union and a Baptist.

He married Johnnie Ussery on June 17, 1929, in Okmulgee.

Survivors include wife Johnnie; sons Billy R. of Sapulpa and Kenneth of Granada Hills, Calif.; sister Laura Ash of Sapulpa; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The casket will not be opened at any time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Burial will follow under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Mr. Burgess was a 78-year resident of Sapulpa and was a contract painter. He was a member of the Baptist church.
