Mrs. B. B. Burnett
Final rites were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock for Mrs. Bates B. Burnett,
Sapulpa resident since 1902 and member of the pioneer Ross family of Oklahoma,
who succumbed at her home, 320 South Main street Sunday after a brief illness.
Rev. Thomas B. Talley, pastor of First Methodist church of which Mrs. Burnett
was an active member, conducted the funeral service, which was held in Freeman-Landrith
chapel. Interment was in South Heights
Cemetery.
Mrs. Brunett leaves one son, William James Burnett, one daughter, Elizabeth
Katherine, and a sister Miss Flora Ross, all of the home here.
Prominent as a civic leader here Mrs. Burnett came to Sapulpa to reside shortly
after her marriage on June 17, 1902 at Muskogee to the late Bates B. Burnett,
successful oil operator and banker here, who preceded her in death in 1925.
