Edwin T. Chapman, 75, died Tuesday in Tulsa.

Funeral services were to be held at 11 a.m. today at First Free Will Baptist Church in Bristow with Rev. Gary Zickefoose officiating.

Burial was to follow in the Bristow City Cemetery under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.

Chapman was born July 6, 1918, in Bristow, where he was a life-long resident and an attorney-at-law. He graduated from Bristow High School in 1937, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1941 and a law degree from OU in 1946. He was past president of the OU Alumni Association and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Bristow Rotary Club, the Oklahoma Bar Association, Creek County Bar Association, Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association and the Nation Federation of Independent Businessmen.

Chapman was a founding board member of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and he spearheaded the funding drive for the Bristow Little League baseball field He served in I the U.S. Army during WWII from October, 1943, to July, 1945, in Europe, from which he was awarded several. medals including the Silver Star Medal.

Survivors include wife Geraldine Chapman of the home; sons Paul E. Chapman of Lone Wolf, Jerry T. Chapman of Madill and Richard L. Chapman of Norman; brother Hyatt Chapman of Tulsa; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
