Railway Official for Many Years Forced to Retire After Mishap, 1917

Harry F. Clark, superintendent, dispatcher and trainmaster of the Frisco Railroad Company for 23 years, until his retirement, died this morning at 9 o'clock at his home, 223 South Main Street.

The deceased fell from a motor car in 1917 at Eldorado, Ark., while checking names of enlisted men in the war and sustained an injury that forced him to retire. He was an invalid following the mishap until the time of his death.

Born January 15, 1861 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Clark was first connected with the Erie railroad for a number of years as an operator and dispatcher. He came west in about 1888 where he was associated with the Frisco. In 1889 he married Mrs. Mary S. Foster.

Leaving here in 1911, the deceased took a position with the Rock Island Railroad Company and following the accident that hindered his active service, he returned here where he has lived since.

Surviving are his widow, his step-daughter, Mrs. Edith F. Martin of Lawrence, Kan. Mrs. Clark's granddaughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Ball of Coffeyville and Mrs. Martin arrived here today.

There will be no funeral services here. The body will be taken to Kent, Ohio, former home of parents of the deceased for funeral services and burial. The funeral party will leave tonight, the arrangements being completed by the Lewis and Landrith directors.

Mrs. Clark requested that friends do not send flowers.
