Dr. Howard Clarke, long-time practicing dentist of Oilton, OK, passed away Tuesday, Feb 26, in a Tulsa, OK hospital following an illness of only a few weeks. Dr. Clarke was born in 1877 in the Hopedale community, north of Ozark, the son of Andy and Isabelle Clarke.

His wife, the former Ella Vaughn of Ozark, preceded him in death some four years ago. Dr. and Mrs. Clarke had three children all of whom survive. He was a member of the Baptist church of Oilton.

Survivors include the three children, Mrs. Wilda Clarke Brown of the home in Oilton, Mr. Andrew Clarke of Dallas, TX, and Mrs. Mary Phillips of Wayne, PA; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lola Hawkins of Nixa; a host of friends in Oilton and the Ozark community.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Oilton and then the body was brought to Ozark for graveside services on Friday afternoon. Rev. Roscoe Harding of the Riverdale Baptist church officiated at the burial services in the Hopedale cemetery.

Mrs. Louella Bell Clark, wife of Dr. Howard Clark of Oilton, Okla., was the youngest daughter of Granville H. Vaughan and Mary E. Vaughan and was born Dec. 2, 1878, at Ozark, Mo.

She departed this life Aug. 15, 1947, at her home near Oilton, Okla., at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 13 days. In 1900 she was married to Dr. Howard Clark and to this union were born three children, Mrs. Wilda Brown of Oilton, Andrew J. Clark of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Don McKenney of Washington, D.C.

Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. Lina Given, and a brother, Luther Vaughan of Ozark. At an early age she was converted under the preaching of Rev. A.B. Elsey and united with the Ozark Baptist church, later moving her membership to Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Hopedale church, north of Ozark, conducted by Rev. Albert Hanks, with burial in Hopedale cemetery under direction of the Chaffin Funeral Home of Ozark.
