Kurt Douglas Coolbaugh, 31 of rural Sapulpa, died Monday at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday at the Pentecostal Mission Church in Sapulpa with Rev. Ronnie Thompson and Chief Fred Meeks officiating.

Burial is scheduled to follow in the Kellyville Cemetery under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Coolbaugh was born July 21, 1962 in Joplin, Mo., to Jack and Betty Holden Coolbaugh. He was a resident of Sapulpa since 1969. As a firefighter with the Blackjack Fire Department, he achieved the rank of lieutenant, where he had been active the last two years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He attended the Pentecostal Mission Church in Sapulpa. He enjoyed crafts and outdoor activities and was an avid fisherman, hunter and patriot. He will receive full military rites by the Creek County Veterans Organizations.

Survivors include mother Betty Coolbaugh of Sapulpa, fiancée Mary Simpson of Sapulpa, brothers Jack Coolbaugh Jr. of Garden City, Kan., John Coolbaugh and Lloyd Coolbaugh, both of Sapulpa, and Marion Coolbaugh of Mesa, Ariz., sisters Myrtle Scott and Kristine Coolbaugh, both of Sapulpa, and Ana Lyons of Sand Springs; and grandmother Myrtle Holden of Joplin, Mo.

Casket bearers are to be Tom Hollingsworth, Chris Barrett, Jim Sanders, Chuck Landreth, Chuck Owens, Robert Lee and Tim Grant.

Honorary casket bearers are to be Ricky Carr, Tony Weins and Roy Weins.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack Coolbaugh.

The family will headquarter at 205 N. Mounds.
