Delmar D. Cooper, 78, Joplin route 3, died at 11:40 pm Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at Freeman Hospital East after a short illness. 

Mr. Cooper was born April 20, 1918, at Kellyville, Okla. He had been a lifetime Joplin area resident. He was a member of Southview Assembly Church, Joplin. He was a self-employed carpenter. 

Survivors include a son, Bobby Ray Cooper, Joplin; a brother, Virgil Cooper, Carthage; two sisters, Mary Ansel, Clovis, Calif., and Nelie Cornelius, Sanger, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Services will be at 2 pm Monday at Thornill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin. The Rev. Bill Hobson will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. Pallbearers will be Rick Whited, Robert Clark, Robert Clark II, Didway Gourley, Mike Haas and Jim Layne. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm Sunday at the mortuary.
