Priecely Cooper Jr.
John Priecely Cooper Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan.
26, 2007.
John was born March 17, 1929, in Texarkana, Texas, to John and
Gladys Cooper.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 as a hard-hat deep
sea diver, often making search and rescue dives.
Upon leaving the Navy, John attended mortuary school in Dallas
and later served hundreds of families and friends as a funeral
director at funeral homes in Claremore, Tulsa and Sapulpa.
John is survived by wife Glenna Newell Cooper of Sapulpa;
daughter Vicky Cooper Hale of Tulsa and her companion Shelton
Benedict; Glenna's daughter Tammy Cox and son Robert Newell and
his wife LaDonna; and Glenna's grandchildren, Jackie and Casey
Cox and James, Nick and Alex Newell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Linda
Cooper Wallace, who he lost in 1991.
In addition to his family, John’s passions were trout fishing at
Roaring River, Mo., antiques and his many animals.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's
Research.
Funeral services for John have been set for 11 a.m. Thursday,
Feb. 1, 2007, in the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul
Nichols officiating.
Interment will follow at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
Serving as casketbearers will be Nick Newell, James Newell,
Robert Newell and Shelton Benedict.
Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
