EDITH COURTNEY
BEGGS, Okla. — Edith Evon Courtney, 54, of Beggs, died Monday at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mounds, with the Rev. Baxter Scroggins officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tallis Nelson.
Burial will be in Beggs Cemetery under the direction of Spivey Funeral Home, Beggs.
She was born March 29, 1935, southwest of Beggs, and she married Jackson Courtney June 3, 1951.
Mrs. Courtney was a secretary and a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Franklin Rice, and her mother, Louisa Jane Steels Rice.
Survivors include husband Jack Courtney of the home; son Randall Courtney of Enid and Stanley Ray Courtney and Bruce Courtney, both of Mounds; brothers Reo Rice of Okmulgee, Edgar Rice, Sterling Rice and Sherman Rice, all of Beggs, and Alman Rice and L. C. Rice, both of Mounds; sisters Bertha Evans and Idella Crane, both of Sand Springs, and Fay Lou Stacey of Okmulgee; and five grandchildren.
