E. E. COWMAN DIES HERE SUNDAY AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS.
Edward Ernest Cowman, 77, pioneer resident of Sapulpa, died Sunday afternoon at
the local hospital. He had been in ill health for several months.
Mr. Cowman was owner of the Pay-Less Drug store here until ill health forced him
to sell the store, located at Dewey and Park. The transaction was completed just
before Christmas.
He was born in Iowa, October 22, 1871 and was a graduate of Beloit, Kans. High
School. Following his graduation he worked for a while in a drug store, later
attending normal school at Buena Vista, Colo., where he taught school.
In 1893 he entered the School of Pharmacy, Kansas university at Lawrence, coming
to Sapulpa in 1907.
He and the late Dr. Bone became partners in the drug store, later known as the
Pay-Less store. Mr. Cowman purchased Dr. Bones interest and operated the
business until it was sold recently.
On the occasion of his last birthday his five children were in attendance for
the celebration and a family reunion.
Mr. Cowman was an active member of the First Methodist church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edith M. Cowman; one daughter, Mrs. D. R.
Shaul, Long Beach, Calif; four sons, Raymond E., Tulsa, Eugene E., Glendale,
Calif., E. Arthur, Seattle, Wash., and James W. this city; eight grandchildren,
two treat grandchildren; two brothers, William of Dallas and J. H. Glendale.
