DRUMRIGHT — Pope Dan (P. D.) Cox, 86, of Drumright, died Saturday in Tulsa.

Graveside services were held today at Highland Cemetery in Oilton with the Rev. Russell Payne officiating.

Burial followed under the direction of Don Smith Funeral Home, Drumright.

Mr. Cox was born Dec 18, 1904, in Searcy, Ark., and married Clara Helen rush Oct. 17, 1929. The couple lived in the Drumright and Oilton area since 1941. A U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, Mr. Cox was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from the Department of Soil Conservation.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, Nov. 14, 1985.

Survivors include sons Joe Cox of Drumright and Bill Cox of Midland, Texas; daughter Wanda White of Sapulpa; sister Bessie Leird of Stuttgart, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
