Rev. I. J. Crawford, 91, died Friday in Tulsa.
Services were to be held at 1 pm today at the Greater Mt. Herman Church in
Bristow.
Burial was to follow at the Newby Cemetery
in Newby under the direction of Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home.
Crawford was born Jan. 5, 1902, in Ardmore and married Kittie Totress in 1928,
who died in 1933. In 1937 he married Henryetta Mason and later married Ophelia
Hamilton, who died in 1984. He became a member of the Greater Mt. Herman Church
in 1929 and was ordained and became pastor in 1951 in the Bell Chapel Baptist
Church for 13 years. He also served 17 years at the St. Emanuel Baptist Church.
He was active in civic and social work and was a member of the Greater Mt.
Herman Church.
He is survived by daughters Earrie Cotton of Oklahoma City, Synthia Bradford of
Tulsa and Cinda Crawford of Arlington; sons James Conway Crawford of Quebec,
Canada, Roman Lee Crawford of Tulsa and Ezra Charles of Tulsa; sister Georgia of
Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son James Crawford, a great-grandson,
two brothers and three sisters.
