Willard L. Cridland Jr., 80, of Carlisle, died Friday, May 28, 1999, at Manor Care Health Services on Walnut Bottom Road.

He was born on May 20, 1919, in Mounds, Okla., to the late Willard L. and Vinnie (Nida) Cridland Sr.

Mr. Cridland graduated from Nowata High School in Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having attained the rank of captain. He later was an assistant director of food operations for Kmart Corp. in Troy, Mich., before he retired with 35 years of service.

He was a member of Allison United Methodist Church in Carlisle, a past secretary of Carlisle Kiwanis Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Barnhart Cridland; a daughter, Linda C. Olsen, of Houston, Texas; a sister, Marjean McCormick of Los Alamos, N.M.; and a granddaughter, Jenna L. Olsen of Houston.

Mr. Cridland was preceded in death by two sisters, Merle Hill and Maxine Adamson.

Memorial services will be at 10 am Tuesday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Karen E. Layman officiating. Visitation will begin there Tuesday at 9:30 am
Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Lebanon County, at the convenience of the family.
