TED CUMMINGS
KELLEYVILLE — Ted G. Cummings, 63, Kellyville, died Sunday at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa.
Services will be 2 pm Wednesday at Kellyville High School with the Rev. Donald Barefoot officiating.
Burial will be at Kellyville Cemetery under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.
Casket Bearers will be Dixon Cartwright, Dwight Davison, Raymond Hutchings, Buryl Franks, Stan Storer and Jack McKenzie.
He was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Sapulpa, and married Doris Haulum on Sept 3, 1947, in Kellyville.
In 1969, Mr. Cummings was Creek County Teacher of the Year. He taught school for 36 years, 33 of which were spent as an industrial arts teacher at Kellyville, He retired in 1986.
After retirement, he devoted more time to woodcarving. He and his wife also traveled to numerous carving shows throughout the southwest, winning many awards and special recognition for his work.
Survivors include wife Doris; sons Tom Cummings and Richard Cummings, both of Kellyville; daughter Jean Reynolds of Kellyville; brother Delmar Cummings of Okmulgee and Gary Shields of Kellyville; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Cummings was a member of the Kellyville United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was past officer of the Kellyville Lions Club, post president of the Kellyville Classroom Teachers Association, past president of the Eastern Oklahoma Woodcarvers Association and an active Creek County 4-H Leader.
Mr. Cummings also was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and retired teachers association.
