A. Maurice Davis, a retired Vice President of Liberty Glass Company, died Tuesday, June 20, 1995. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Parkview Baptist Church in Tulsa under the direction of Stanley’s Funeral Service.
Davis was born in Fannin County, Texas. His education was at Oklahoma University and Oklahoma School of Accounting, Law and Finance. He was employed with Liberty for 40 years before retiring in 1982. He interrupted his career with Liberty in order to serve in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, as 2nd Lieutenant, He was honorably discharged as personnel officer at Mitchell Field, New York. After retiring from Liberty Glass he then became an insurance broker. He held that position at the time of his death.
Davis was a charter member and deacon of Parkview Baptist Church. Affiliated clubs included Tulsa Sales Executive Club, Director for many years, Commander of the National Guard, past President of Sapulpa Junior Chamber of Commerce, Director of National Dairy Council for five years, and a member of the GCMI Task Committee Market Research and Promotion. He also was a member of Oaks Country Club and Shadow Mountain Racquet Club.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; son, Guy Bailey Howerton of Houston; two daughters, Barbara Leek of Gary, IN, and Janice Mecke of Broken Arrow. He was preceded in death by sons, Andre Maurice Davis II, and Bruce David Howerton.
