Nettie May Davis, 97, 626 S. Apple, Sapulpa, died Tuesday at her daughter’s home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Thursday at Smith Chapel with Rev. Glenn Hood officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Nettie was born August 3, 1895, in Mena, Ark. A longtime Sapulpa area resident, she was a retired school teacher having taught at Blue Bell, Eureka and Bixby. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and had attended the Tahlequah Normal School.

Survivors include sons, Dexter of Sapulpa and Roy of Sand Springs; daughter, Elizabeth Frazier of Sapulpa; sister, Maude Evans of Omaha, Neb.; 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

NETTIE MAY DAVIS

Nettie May Davis, 97, a Christian for many years, went to walk with the Lord Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Davis; a daughter, Lahoma Groover and a son James I. Davis.

Nettie was born near in Mena, Arkansas, August 3, 1895 to John and Annie Demoss. She moved to Peggs, I. T. when she was three months old and graduated from Tahlequah Normal School. Later becoming a schoolteacher. She was a Bible Believer who lived and taught the principles she believed in. She was a precious lady, loved and survived by two sons. Roy Davis, Sand Springs and Dexter Davis, Sapulpa and one daughter, Elizabeth Frazier of Sapulpa. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. Also one sister Maud Evans, Omaha, Nebraska, nieces and nephews.

For many years, Nettie, was a minister’s wife and served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher at various churches. At the time of her death, she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church on McKinley Street in Sapulpa.

Funeral Services for Nettie May Davis were held today at Smiht Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Hood officiating.

Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Casketbearers were Raymond Kreps, Jim Wilemon, Bob Frazier, Terry Frazier, Bob Hanshaw, Bob Smoot, Dan Davis and Mark Davis.
