Herbert Hoover Drake, age 72, of Morrilton, Ark. died Sunday, March 3, 2002. He was born April 3, 1929 in Kiefer, a son of Edward Lincoln Drake and Anna Ussery Drake.

Mr. Drake was Korean War Air Force veteran, a sheet metal welder, a member of Local Unit No. 54 in Galveston, Texas and of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Shields Drake of Galveston, Texas; one son, Richard Allen King of Sapulpa; three stepsons and their wives, Ray and Dolly Whittington of Galveston, Allen and Ruth Whittington of York, England, James and Margaret Whittington of Mayflower, Ark.; one stepdaughter and her husband, Evelyn and Ken Henke of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; one brother and his wife, Bill and Bonnie Drake of Sapulpa; two sisters, Ida Mae Lair of Sapulpa and Betty Louise Cellan of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at the Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Hewanwasam officiating.

Burial will be at South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
