Guiding Light Tabernacle's Founder Dies
The Rev. Edgar M. Bruce Dye, founder and pastor of the Guiding Light
Tabernacle, died Sunday.
Rev. Dye, 63, resided at 3314 S. 114th East Ave.
A native of Washburn, Mo., Rev. Dye founded the Guiding Light
Tabernacle in 1949.
Rev. Dye is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of the home; three sons,
Donny Dye, Jimmy Dye, and Leon Dye, all of Tulsa; two step sons, Jack
Hill and John Hill, also of Tulsa; four daughters, Betty Misner, Shirley
Chilcoat, Kathy King, and Cindy Philleys, all of Tulsa, two sisters,
Bernice Tubb, of Richmond, Calif.; and Eunice Rubert, of Parsons, Kan.;
four brothers, J. B. Dye and Buster Dye, both of Tulsa, Carney Dye of
Barnsdall; Billy Dye, of Bartlesville; 16 grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren.
Friends and family may view the body from 10 am Tuesday to 2 pm
Wednesday at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel, at which time services are
scheduled to be held in the Guiding Light Tabernacle. Burial will be in
Osage Cemetery in Osage under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of
Hominy.

Rites Are Set For Rev. Dye
Funeral services for the Rev. Edgar M. Bruce, 63, founder and
longtime pastor of Guiding Light Tabernacle, will be held at 2 pm
Wednesday in Moore's Eastlawn Chapel. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery
.in Osage with Powell Funeral Home of Hominy in charge.
Dye, whose home was at 3314 S. 114th E. Ave., died here Sunday.
A native of Washburn, Mo., he had been a Tulsa resident since about
1920. He had been in the ministry since 1949, the year he founded the
Tulsa church.
He conducted a weekly radio program here more then 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; three sons, Donny, Jimmy and Leon,
all of Tulsa; two stepsons, of Jack Hill and John Hill, also of
Tulsa; four daughters, Mrs. Betty Misner, Mrs. Shirley Chilcoat, Mrs.
Kathy King and Mrs. Cindy Philley, all of Tulsa; two sisters, Mrs.
Bernice Tubb of Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Eunice Rupert of Parsons,
Kan.; four brothers, J. B. Dye and Buster Dye, both of Tulsa; Carney Dye
of Barnsdall and Billy Dye of Bartlesville, 16 grandchildren and eight
great grandchildren.
