SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug.
19, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Charles
Alvin Edwards of Springfield, who died Aug. 14 of lung cancer.
He was 71.
He was born May 21, 1935, in Oilton, Okla., to Willard and Velma
Shafter Edwards. He married Elsbeth Klappevich on Dec. 31, 1955,
in Corvallis.
Edwards worked as a millwright.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gidian of Springfield and
Timothy of Brownsville; two daughters, Julie Cramer of Oakridge
and Suzanne Kelly of Rome, Ga.; a brother, Loyd of Madras; four
sisters, Lenora Nelson of Bakersfield, Calif., Letha Edwards of
Arroyo Grande, Calif., Barbara Tatum of Grover City, Calif., and
Jacqueline Meyer of Termo, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home. A reception will follow the Saturday service.
