FLOYD -- Roger Dale. Funeral service for Roger Dale Floyd of Enid, OK, will be held 10 a.m., Monday April 2, 2007 in the Sanctuary of the First Christian Church in Pond Creek, OK. Burial will be at 3 p.m., in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, OK. Family will receive friends and relatives for visitation Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 5 p.m. til 7 p.m., at the First Chrisitan Church in Pond Creek. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the: American Cancer Society, First Christian Church in Pond Creek or Hospice in memory of Roger. Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, OK, will be in charge of the arrangements. Roger was born in Elk City, Oklahoma to M.R., Sr. and Ruby Lee (Baker) Floyd. As a young man, Roger was raised in Colorado as well as Nebraska. When Roger was in the 6th grade, the family moved to Pauls Valley, OK. While in junior high, Roger was a team member of the Pauls Valley State Championship Team. After the completion of his sophomore year, Roger moved with his family to Tulsa, where he began attending McLain High School. While in high school, Roger was very active in football, basketball, as well as baseball. Roger had such a passion for knowledge he began furthering his education at the University of Tulsa. While attending TU, Roger was a member of the Presidents Honor Roll for each semester he attended.

Roger was united in marriage to Londa Kay (Bell) in Tulsa, on December 20, 1969. In 1973, Roger graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. After his graduation, he accepted a coaching and history teacher's position with the Mannford School District. Roger was soon offered the Athletic Director's Job at Mannford, where he was the football, track and basketball coach. While Coach Floyd was Athletic Director for the Mannford Pirates, he was honored as Tulsa World Coach of the Week, following a win over the number one ranked Bristow Pirates. Following eight years of tenure at the Mannford School District, Roger made a change in careers. Mr. Floyd accepted a position with Koch Oil in Corsicana, TX, as a Corrosion Technician. Roger's motto towards his life and work ethic "do the best that you can do", rolled over into the thirst for knowledge about corrosion in the industry of oil transportation. From 1986 till 1991, Roger managed the corrosion group of the Medford Division. From 1991 till 1994, Mr. Floyd was a Corrosion Engineering Technologist for Koch Corrosion Services in Wichita, KS, from 1994 till 1995, he was the Manager of Koch Corrosion Services. In 1995, Roger was then transferred to Hermann, MO, where he was the Manager of Support Services over the Gulf Central Pipeline. In 1996, Roger and Londa moved to Enid, OK, where he was currently the Manager of Pipeline Integrity Medford Division for OneOk. While employed and searching to be the best the he could be, Mr. Floyd obtained the following certifications: NACE Certified Cathodic Protection Specialist, NACE Certified Corrosion Specialist, NACE Instructor and NCCER Master Trainer. Roger wrote and presented numerous papers as well as chaired many organizations on his expertise of corrosion. Mr. Floyd was current trustee and past chairman of the Tulsa Section of NACE. Roger helped write the NACE Recommended Practice on In-Line Inspection, as well as developed Integrity Management Plan for NGL Pipelines. He also helped develop alliance with Magpie Inc., for in-line inspection tools, with a cost savings of the company of over five million dollars in five years of time. Mr. Floyd helped author the Technical Guide Lines for Koch Pipeline on Corrosion Mitigation and Integrity Management. With over 24 years of experience in corrosion and integrity, Roger was a man that was sought out by numerous countries as well as companies through out the world. With all of his training and knowledge, Roger was known as the best in the industry. Roger and Londa enjoyed spending their time together, playing and traveling to golf courses throughout the United States. Roger also enjoyed being with his family and friends. One of their most memorable vacations they took was to the Pacific Northwest, where they spent two weeks. Roger and Londa would frequent trips to bed and breakfast inns. One thing Roger did after 35 years together, was to take dancing lessons with Londa, because he knew how much it meant to her. Roger was also a history scholar on the Civil War. Many people thought of Roger as a gentle giant; always giving people an opportunity. Roger and Londa were also an active part and members of the First Christian Church in Pond Creek. Roger has left a legacy of family, friends and acquaintances, that will never be forgotten.

Roger went to be with his Lord and Saviour Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at his home in Enid, at the age of 55 years 8 months and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby, in 2001.

Survived by: his wife of over 37 years, Londa of the home; daughter, Sheresa Lynn Flack of Rawlins, WY; son, Jeremy "Bo" Scott Floyd, Wichita, KS; father, M.R. "Red" Floyd, Sr. of Tulsa; 3 brothers, M.R. Floyd, Jr. of Jennings, OK, George Floyd of Silby, TX and Monte Floyd of Mannford; 1 sister, Nancy Steckel of Rochester, NY; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
