Ina Mae Gipson, 83, died March 1 at a Tulsa hospital following a lengthy
illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith Funeral Home Chapel with
Gerald Rendel officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gipson was born March 13, 1991 in Bristow to William and Ida Mae
Coop. While she was young, her family moved to Mounds, where her father
was a printer. She attended school in Mounds and Bristow.
Mrs. Gipson married her husband, Earl Gipson, Sept. 13, 1930. He preceded
her in death Dec. 5, 1982 after more than 52 years of marriage. The
couple lived in Mounds, where her husband ran the locally-owned gas
company and later was employed by Oklahoma Natural Gas, the firm that
purchased the local company and with which he retired. Mrs. Gipson often
accompanied her husband on hunting and fishing trips and to out-of-state
sites for the company.
Mrs. Gipson, worked as a sales clerk at the J.J. Newberry store until
it closed. She was a skilled seamstress, and her hobbies included needlework,
crafts and cooking.
At Mounds, she was an active member of the First Christian Church and
taught a Sunday School class. She joined the Order of Eastern Star in
1944 and was past matron of the Mounds chapter. She continued her membership
until death.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents
and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Earlene Hausner of Sapulpa; her son
Jack Gipson of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Cindi Duncan and Randy Hausner,
who were her caregivers for the past several years; and three great-grandchildren,
who also lived with her.
