GOOD
- Wanita Ellen, 96, born June 16, 1912, in Nowata, OK to the
late Mecca Russell Straw and Herman Winters Straw, passed away
on Thursday, July 17, 2008. She moved to Oilton at a young age,
then to Shidler where she graduated high school. Wanita attended
Oklahoma Baptist University, serving as band queen, before
transferring to Oklahoma A&M where she met her future husband of
67 years and received a teacher's certificate.
She and William Delbert Good married October 23, 1933, in
Shawnee, OK, moving to Tulsa in 1940. Papa and Bunny, as they
came to be known, were very active in several branches of
masonry, namely Petroleum Lodge, Brookside Eastern Star and
Supreme Council Order of the Amaranth.
After Delbert died in 2000, Wanita lived independently in
Tulsa until she was 96 years old. Although small in stature,
Wanita was big in heart and loved her family and friends. She is
survived by: 1 daughter, Jean Good VanDall and husband Bill; 5
grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Richard Uhl, Jill and
husband Tracy Holland, Deidre and husband Bill Duca, Heidi and
husband Mike Teague, Casey and wife Leslie Goodwin; 17
great-grand- children; and 13 great-great -grandchildren.
Service for Wanita will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at
Floral Haven Funeral Services, 6500 South 129th East Ave.,
Broken Arrow with internment to follow at Floral Haven. Funeral
directed by Floral Haven.
