William Robert Green Jr., 49, a 24-year veteran of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, died of cancer Thursday in a Tulsa hospital. He lived at 10646 E. 33rd St.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday in the Community Christian Church here. Burial will be in Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, under direction of the Moore Eastlawn Funeral Home here.

The patrol said troopers will wear black ribbons on their badges until after the funeral.

Mr. Green had been in the patrol's motor vehicle inspection division in Tulsa the last four years. He had been given medical leave after becoming ill last March.

He previously was stationed at Sapulpa, Haskell, and Bixby. He moved here from Bixby a year ago.

Mr. Green was born in Edmond and attended Central State University there. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy. He was past master of the Haskell Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his widow, Marie; a son, William Ralph, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Boyd, all of the home; his father, W. R. Green Sr. of Fulton, Tex.; three sisters, including Mrs. Gerald Kennedy of Edmond, and a grandchild.
