Kellyville Youth Victim of Crash
An 18 year old Kellyville boy was killed Sunday in a one-car accident
north of Tulsa on Interstate 44.
The victim was Jackie D. Hawkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Hawkins.
Hawkins, a 1963 graduate of Kellyville High School, was killed when
his car crashed into a concrete bridge abutment.
Trooper Bill Fisher said Hawkins lost control of his west bound
vehicle on the bypass when the car apparently ran off on the right
shoulder. The auto hit a guard rail and then smashed into the abutment.
The patrolman said the vehicle was hurled into the air and landed on
its top.
He was alone at the time of the accident.
Hawkins was employed as a warehouseman for Falstaff Distributing Co.,
of Tulsa. The family has lived in Kellyville for 11 years, moving there
from Summitt, Ark., where the victum was born.
In addition to the parents, other survivors include:
A brother, L. G. Hawkins, of the home; and the grandmother, Mrs.
Laura Martin Flippen, Ark.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Kellyville Pentecostal
church. Rev. Vernie Edwards will officiate. Interment will be in
Kellyville Cemetery under direction of Owen Funeral Home.
Hawkins' death combined with that of a Stillwater man, boosted
Oklahoma's 1964 traffic toll to 302, compared with 262 a year ago.
