Funeral services for Opal Hewitt, 82, Mounds, are to be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Community Church, east of Broken Arrow, with the Revs. Ivan Lopes and John Hess officiating.

Burial is to follow in the Johnson Bailey Cemetery under the direction of Kennard Funeral Services.

Hewitt was born Sept. 19, 1911 in Monet, AR to W. M. Combs and Emma Lashley Combs. She moved to the Broken Arrow area in 1928 and was married Feb. 8, 1930 to Clifford Hewitt Sr., who preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by three sons Bennie Hewitt, David Hewitt and Cliff Hewitt.

She served on the Wagoner County Election Board and was a member of the Mounds Senior Citizens Club in Mounds, where she was a resident of Sunset Village. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters Helen Shelton of Sapulpa and Mary Ann Seago of Mounds; son Gordon Hewitt of Broken Arrow; 21 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
