Bill Holmes, Dies Friday

William (Bill) H. Holmes, 53, of Rt. 3, Sapulpa, died Friday afternoon in St. Johns Hospital, Tulsa.

A retired truck driver for Red Ball Inc., he was born in Sapulpa March 14, 1921, and lived here all his life. He was an Army veteran of World War 2.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Velma L. Holmes of the home; one son, George K. Holmes of Rt. 3 and grandsons Chuckie and Kenny; his mother, Mrs. Beulah Holmes Beasley of 614 S. Hiawatha; five brothers, Gene, Rt.1; Jake, 2324 S. Poplar; Bojack, Rt. 1; Tom, 1102 N. 12th; and Charlie, of Kellyville; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Threlkeld of Bristow and Mrs. Imogene Jackson of Twin Oaks, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the North Heights Free Will Baptist church, 8th and Fern, with the Rev. Sam Gober officiating Interment will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens under direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Frank Goins, Bob Plum, Joe Engles, Dee Smithee, Bud Poston and Leo Simonds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Russell, J.B. Selby, Chet Haley, Jeck Belveal, Bus Doty, Cotton Gentry, Charlie Reynolds and Buck Collins.
