Rev. Richard Allen Hughes, 49, 310 S. 41st Ave., died Saturday at St. John Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Westside New Life Fellowship Pentecostal Church of God, 4102 S. 47th W. Ave. in Tulsa, with the Rev. James Burnsworth and Leon McDowell officiating.

Burial is to follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Hughes was born June 27, 1944 in Sapulpa and graduated from Sapulpa High School. He was married to Barbara Taber Nov. 25, 1970 in Tulsa. He had retired as an elevator mechanic in Broken Arrow. He held credentials since 1971 with the Pentecostal Church of God, Oklahoma District. Hughes founded and served as minister of the Living Word Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Sapulpa in 1979. He was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #83.

Survivors include wife Barbara of the home; mother Katherine Foshee of Sapulpa; son Richard Aaron Hughes of the home; daughters Rebecca Ann Hughes of the home, Kimberly Farmer of Sapulpa and Jody Griffith of Tulsa; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rev. Richard A. Hughes were held at 10am today in the Westside New Life Fellowship Pentecostal Church of God in Tulsa with Revs. James Burnsworth and Leon McDowell officiating.

Interment was to follow in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Serving as casketbearers were Revs. Mike Newland, Huell Young, Fred Brown, Bruce Wyatt, Robert Holladay, John Ramsey, Montie Youman and Oscar Creason.

Honorary bearers were Wayne Waltrip, David Hoppe, Bill Singleton, Steve Fatula, Gene Grim and Guy Allison.
