Howard Edwin Johnson, 70, Tulsa, died Monday, May 8, 1995 at St. John Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Price officiating. Burial will be in
South Heights Cemetery, directed by Owen Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1924 in Okemah to Benjamin F. and Nonnie C. Roberts Johnson.
He married Valeda Van Horn in Sapulpa on April 17, 1945.
He was a First Lieutenant in the Infantry with the U.S. Army and served in World War II and the Korean War. He received the Meritorious Service Plaque, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Victory Medal, the Philippine operation Medal and Military Merit Medal from the Philippine Commonwealth.
He worked in management at P.P.G. Industries in Tulsa and retired in 1978. He was a member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge. He was a volunteer with the Tulsa Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Valeda, of the home; three sons, Howard Wayne Johnson, Marlow, Terry Lee Johnson, Tulsa and Rodger D. Johnson, Bedford, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Lonnie Delaney, Mike Johnson, Don Hardcastle, Dale Smith, Matt Maltsberger, Jerry Blevins and George Beesley. The family will headquarter at the family home, 9709 E. Fourth St., in Tulsa.
