BEGGS, OKLA.- Mr. Arthur L. Johnston, 89, of Beggs, died Saturday at Tulsa. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Green Hills Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. T. Howard Allen officiating.

Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

He was born September 2, 1899, in Thayer, MO, lived in Sapulpa for much of his life, then moved to Beggs in 1979.

Mr. Johnston was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sapulpa and the Masonic Lodge. He operated the Johnston Grocery store in Sapulpa for many years.

Survivors include wife Vera; son Chester of Broken Arrow; daughter Mrs. Lee (Margaret) Miller of Sapulpa; step-children Treva Henson, Anna Shepherd and K. William Pless, all of Beggs; sisters Stella Waters and Lillie Pitts, both of Sapulpa, and Opal Bell of Rosedale, Cal.; eight grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The family will headquarter at the Lee Miller residence, 1301 E. Bryan Tuesday.
