Donald B. Jones, Sr., 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1995.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Cook officiating. Burial will be in
Green Hills Memorial Gardens, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
He was born July 11, 1905 in Washita County, to Alfred B. and Mary E. Jones.
They later moved to Stillwater and then to Oklahoma City in 1921. He attended Oklahoma City schools and Hills Business College.
He married Elsie Kammerdiener on Nov. 12, 1927.
He was connected with the American National Bank, Oklahoma City and later became secretary-treasurer of the Pan National Insurance Co. In 1935, Congressman Will Rogers appointed him clerk for the Committee on Indian Affairs of the House of Representatives. In the late 1930s, he returned to Oklahoma as supervisor of Education, Recreation, Welfare and Safety for a three-state area of the Indian Civilian Conservation Corps.
During World War II, he was first aid instructor for aviation cadet students at Oklahoma A&M College at Stillwater. After the war, he was consignee for the Texaco Oil Co. at Guthrie. Then he became a dealer for the Ford tractor and implement business in Wellington, Kansas.
The family moved to Sapulpa in 1955. He owned and operated Joman Outdoor Advertising Co. until he retired in 1974.
He was president of the Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce in 1965, served for three years on the Sapulpa City Commission and was past president of the Noon Day Lions Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
He was deacon in his church for more than 60 years. Survivors include his wife, Elsie; a son, the Rev. Don B. Jones, Jr., Shawnee; a daughter, Shirley Everett; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Casket bearers were Dr. Wallace Cale, Tom Sheriff, Lawrence Kelly, C.C. Roberts, Dr. Tom Burnett and J.C.Hunt.
