TWO BRISTOW MEN DIE IN SEPARATE TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

Two Bristow men have died in separate traffic accidents. One accident apparently occurred last Tuesday but was not discovered until Monday evening when a local resident found the grisly scene near Kellyville.

Dead are James M. Jones, 27, and William H. Phillippe, 75. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Bennie Chapman said that Jones apparently died of massive head and chest injuries in an accident believed to have happened about six days ago.

Chapman said Jones' 1982 Chevrolet pick-up was found 6 miles west of Kellyville on Oklahoma 66.

The wrecked vehicle was located about 40 feet down an embankment and was horseshoed around a tree. It appeared that Jones died instantly, the trooper said.

Chapman said that OHP troopers are trained to search the sides of the roads they patrol. In this accident, the vehicle was so far off the road and obscured by the underbrush that it couldn't be seen.

Family members told the OHP they last saw Jones the morning of Aug. 16 when he left home for his job in Tulsa. Family members filed a missing person's report last Friday.
