JONES, GRACE

Funeral services were held today for Grace Clepatra Tilford Jones at Mount Vernon A.M.E. Church in Tulsa with the Rev. Dr. David R. Stuckey officiating. Mrs. Jones, 82, died Sunday at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 26, 1908. She completed her early schooling at Buxluxly School near Bugtussle. She graduated from L'Ouverture High School in McAlester and received her bachelor's degree from Langston University.

She pursued graduate work at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, where she received her master's degree. She was a member of the AKA Sorority, Langston Chapter.

Mrs. Jones taught school for 42 years, including 30 years in Tulsa Public Schools, and in schools at Alderson, Hartshorn, L'Ouverture, McAlester and Bixby.  She was a member of Mount Vernon A.M.E. Church in Tulsa.

Local survivors include brother E. T. Tilford of McAlester; nephew Kermit Tilford of Sapulpa; seven other nephews; and seven nieces.
