LAS CRUSES, NM - Dr. Paul S. Jones, 79, of Las Cruces, N.M., died May 27 at Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services were held June 1 at Graham Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Charles O. Price officiating.

A private family burial followed at a later date under the direction of Graham Mortuary.

Dr. Jones was born in Barry County, MO, on June 4, 1913, to Alva and Fannie Williams Jones. He attended Sapulpa High School and attended Oklahoma A&M for two years in the pre-med program before completing his medical training at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He moved to Las Cruces in 1937, serving the area as a physician until 1983. Dr. Jones was a medical investigator for Las Cruces, the physician for the Las Cruces High School sports teams and was president for the Board of Examiners for 16 years.

Dr. Jones was the first president of the Las Cruces Shiners Club, he was a life member of the Noon Lions, Aztec Masonic Lodge 3 AF & AM, York Rite Masonic Bodies, Scottish Rite, Ballet Abate, also a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen; son Duncan P. Jones of Chesapeake, VA; daughters, Sharon Clarke of Sandstone, VA, and Linda Peckumm of Las Cruces, NM; and seven grandchildren.
