Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Kirkendoll, age 79, Clinton resident, will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Mucker officiating.

Mrs. Kirkendoll died early Saturday morning, Nov 10, 2001, at her Clinton home. She was born on April 11, 1922 in Bristow, the daughter of George and Grace (George) Miller.

Reared in Bristow, she received her school there and was married to Cecil Kirkendoll there in 1939.

They moved to Vinita and finally settled in Clinton in 1966. She cooked for a number of years at Pop Hicks and Trade Winds Restaurant before being forced to retire in 1976 for medical reasons.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two sons, Cecil Joe and John Kirkendoll; her brother, Virgil Smith; two grandchildren, Toni Washington and Ruth-ann Washington; a great grandchild, Alina Maria Lent; and long-time companion, Creamer “Bud” Hardrick.

Mrs. Kirkendoll was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include five daughters, Doris Grimes, Gracie Walker, both of Clinton, Ruth Perry of Frederick, Nancy Johnson of Ardmore, Flora Marie Crawford of Oklahoma City; five sons, Lawrence Kirkendoll of Oklahoma City, James Kirkendoll of Wichita, Kans., Jessie Kirkendoll of Clinton, Garnett Hardrick of Oklahoma City, Anthony Hardrick of Wichita, Kans.; two sisters, Viola Jackson and her husband, Elder Eugene Jackson of Wichita, Kans., Lucille Hubbard and her husband, Leonard, of Oklahoma City; two brothers, L.V. Smith and his wife, Lois, of Clinton, Roy Burleson and his wife, Louise, of Wichita, Kans.; 28 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Ivonne Kirkendoll of Columbia, S.C.
