Knappenberger Rites Tomorrow
Prominent Oilman Here Was Killed In Accident On Lease Yesterday.
Funeral services for D. L. Knappenberger, prominent oilman and independent
producer here for several years, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 6 o'clock at
the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Charles D. Todd will officiate. Burial will
be made in the Southern (sic) Heights
Cemetery.
Knappenberger was born May 20, 1877 in Monroe, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He
spent his early days in West Virginia and Illinois oil fields coming to Oklahoma
in 1909, where he became the general superintendent for the Pure Oil Company. In
1926 he became an independent producer.
He is survived by his widow and son, Bill, of the home address, 1030 East Hobson
Avenue. His older son, Jack, preceded him in death in 1930. He is also survived
by his mother, Mrs. Emma L. Knappenberger and the following brothers and
sisters: Mrs. E. E. Knight, Mrs. L. E. Knight, Mabel Knappenberger and Roy
Knappenberger of Monroe, PA. Eulabelle Knappenberger of Connellsville, PA, W. E.
Knappenberger, Mrs. Raymond Mauthe, Viva Knappenberger of Tulsa, C. E.
Knappenberger of Kiefer and Floyd Knappenberger of Tyler, Tex.
