Koenig, June Martin

Memorial services for June Martin Koenig, 75, have taken place in Palo Alto, Calif. She died may 14, and was born in Sapulpa June 16, 1919.

She graduated from Sapulpa High School and received her degree from the University of Oklahoma. She later received her masters degree from the University of Michigan.

Koenig is survived by her husband, Joseph, and Mrs. Willard (Marjorie) Buckner, Sapulpa, a sister.

She was a professor at several colleges in Oklahoma and married in 1959. She received her bachelor’s degree in foreign languages from the University of Michigan.

June Martin Koenig died Sat., May 14, 1994, in Palo Alto, Calif. Memorial services and cremation were held there.

June was born June 16, 1919, in Sapulpa and attended elementary and high school here and graduated with a degree in foreign languages at the University of Oklahoma and earned her masters from the University of Michigan.

She taught modern and classical languages at Shepard School in Oklahoma City for three years. She was Associate Professor of French and Spanish at the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Okla. and also taught at Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn. for ten years.

She married Joseph Koenig in 1959 and after moving to Palo Alto, she was active in volunteer work at the Gallery Bookshop at Stanford University, a member of the Nature Conservancy, Audubon Society and San Francisco Museum Society.

Mrs. Koenig is survived by her husband Joseph, of the home in Palo Alto and sister Mrs. Willard (Marjorie) Buckner of Sapulpa. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Abbie Martin and her father Robert Martin of Sapulpa.
