JEAN KOONS

Mrs. Clara (Jean) Koons, 72, of Colorado, died Monday in Salida, Colo.

Funeral services were held Friday in the Salida United Methodist Church.

Burial followed in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.

She was born Feb 1, 1920, in Kiefer, and graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1938. She graduated from the Hillcrest School of Nursing with an R. N. degree. She served in the U. S. Army as a nurse from Sep 1942 until Dec. 1945. She married Clair Koons Nov 17, 1956, in Stillwater. Mrs. Koons served as a nurse Anesthesia in Stillwater and also served as a nurse in Tulsa, Collinsville and Sapulpa. She was a director of nurses at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Concordia, Mo., until her retirement in 1985.

Mrs. Koons was a member of the Salida United Methodist Church and was president of the United Methodist Church Women. She was Conductress of the Order of Eastern Star and served with the America Red Cross in Chicago, ? ? ? ? (this appears to be 4 words that can not be read). She was also a volunteer with the ??? Agency on Aging and a member of the Good Sam Club.

Survivors include husband, Clair, sons William Koons of Loveland, Colo. and Car? Koons of Warrensburg, MO.; daughters Kathryn Williams of Tulsa, Rebecca Sch?ller of Higginsville, Mo. and Wendy Lynem of North Charleston, S. C.; brother Jim Snyder of Edmond; sisters Joan Causey of Midwest City, Ruth Walker of Locus Grove, Laura Snider of Sapulpa, Annalee Wiley of Miami, and Carol Martin of Mounds; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
