Wilma Hart Lackey, mother of Jonetta Cates of Shawnee, died Monday in Yukon at the age of 90.
She was born Feb 22, 1907, in Tahlequah to Thomas and Blanche Malone Capps. She graduated from Turley High School and attended Tulsa University, the University of Oklahoma and received a degree at East Central University.
She married Johnie Hart at Turley on July 20, 1927. They lived in Kiefer, Coweta, the Barnsdall school district, Quinton and Avant. They moved to Henryetta in 1945 and taught there until they retired in 1969.
She was a member of Henryetta First United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, PEO, OEA and NEA.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Merna Jo and Dave Robinson, Stillwater; Jonetta and Dale Cates, Shawnee; grandchildren, Scott and Paula Robinson, San Angelo, Texas; Julie Robinson, Waco, Texas; Jay and Cathy Robinson, Corpus Christi, Texas; Byron and Beth Cates, Holdenville; Carlise and Tim Nye, San Antonio, Texas; six great-grandchildren; sister, Verma Berry, Oakland, Calif., and brother, Ronald Capps, Abilene, Texas.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Johnie Hart, in 1970; her second husband, Noel Lackey, in 1978; her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be 11 am Friday at First United Methodist Church of Henryetta with the Rev. Rick Robart officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, Henryetta, under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 8 am to 9 pm Thursday. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
