John William Lear, 88, of Sapulpa died Friday.

Services are to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Owen Chapel with the Rev. Gene Jackson officiating.

Lear, a 65 year resident of Sapulpa, was born Oct. 12, 1905 in Snyder, Texas to Edward and Sarah Bishop Lear. He was a retired blacksmith with the Frisco Railroad and was a member of the Forrest Hills Baptist Church and Sapulpa Masonic Lodge. He came from rural Sand Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Mae Lear.

He is survived by sons Leonard Lear of Bedford, Texas and Freddie Lear of Sapulpa; daughters Deloris Keegan of Bedford, Texas and Myrtle Gubas of Sapulpa; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Robert Furr, James Gubas, Jason Wagnon, Richard Hatley, TIm Keegan and Jeff Lear.

The family will headquarter at 1119 E. Bryan, Sapulpa.

Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for John William Lear, 88, of Sapulpa, at Owen Chapel with the Rev. Gene Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow at South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Robert Furr, James Gubas, Jason Wagnon, Richard Hatley, Tim Keegan and Jeff Lear. 

The family will headquarter at 1119 E. Bryan, Sapulpa.
