Turner Longacre III, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005
at his home in Tulsa surrounded by family and friends.
John was born Feb. 17, 1940 in Bristow to John Turner Longacre,
Jr. and Freda Marie O'Brien. He was the second child and first
son. He graduated from Prague High School in 1958 and attended
Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Calif.
John started his career as a youngster while still in high
school working in the parts and service department of a local
Pontiac dealership in his home town. John officially began his
career in the automobile business in 1963. A quick study, he
rapidly moved up through all departments as a manager.
Continuing his career in the automotive industry, John went to
Bakersfield, Calif. and teamed up with Bill Wright Chevrolet. He
became a dealer in 1970 and personally owned and operated two
different dealerships in Alberta, Canada.
After years in the car business, John finally decided he could
make a difference in the business and this decision lead him to
form the Superior Training Group. His passion and special talent
was working with his many students whom he trained and motivated
to sell within the automobile sector. Through the Superior
Training Group, John lead classes in sales training, telephone
workshop seminars and managerial workshops all over the United
States. John will be remembered as a specially gifted trainer
and an exceptional motivational speaker for meetings and
conventions across the United States.
When he was not working, he loved his hobbies of cooking,
golfing, boxing and playing with his grandchildren.
John was a member of the Imperial Council of the Ancient Arabic
Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine for North America. He
was a member of the Tulsa Scottish Rite of the Valley of Tulsa,
32nd Degree, Delta Chi chapter of the Masons. He was a devoted
Christian man to the Lord and his family.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Turner Longacre,
Jr.; his mother, Freda Marie Maples; his sister, Lois Graham;
his brother, Bill Thomas Longacre; and his niece, Freda Marie
Cooper.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jill and Roscoe
Greene of Inyokern, Calif.; his daughter and son-in-law Paige
and Darrel Christian of Tulsa; and his son and daughter-in-law
John and Jami Longacre of Kellyville; his aunt Laura Bell Smith
of Sacramento, Calif.; his brother and sister-in-law Leon and
Nancy Longacre of Kellyville; nice grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
John was loved and will be greatly missed by a host of nieces,
nephews, friends and his family.
Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005
at the First Baptist Church in Kellyville. The services will be
conducted by the Rev. Danny Frazee of Oklahoma City, a long-time
friend of John's. The burial will follow at the Bristow City
Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
