Iain MacPherson, 74, Tulsa, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 1995 at Tulsa Regional
Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church
with the Rev. Peter McCloud officiating. Burial will be in Floral Haven
Cemetery in Broken Arrow, directed by Owen Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Glasgow, Scotland to Iain and Isabelle
Scott MacPherson.
He married Janice Mullinax on Nov. 9 1987 in Tulsa.
He was a self-employed musician and bagpipe teacher in Tulsa. He judged
worldwide pipe, band and solo competitions.
He moved to Tulsa seven years ago from Alaska. He was a member of the
Scottish Club of Tulsa and was their piper. He was a member of the Church
of Scotland. He was advisor to the Shrine Pipe Band of Wichita, KS and
McPherson, KS and to the Tulsa Highlanders Pipe Band. He was a member
of the Masonic Lodge in Scotland. He was a Pipe Major in the British
Army in World War II and won the British Military Medal for Bravery.
He served in the 15th Scottish Parachute Battalion and the 51st Highland
Regiment.
The 17th Annual Tulsa Scottish Games and Gathering, scheduled for Sept.
16, 1995, will be dedicated to his memory.
Survivors include a son, Iain MacPherson, St. Cyrus by Montrose, Scotland;
and three brothers, Donald MacPherson, Perth, Scotland, and John MacPherson
and William MacPherson, both of Glasgow.

Casket bearers will be Michael Owen, Bruce McIntyre, Ron Burton, Tom
Oglesbee, Rodger Graham, Jim Lindsey, Ted Rankin and Andrew Graham.
Honorary bearers will be Hugh Gemmel, Dick Risk, Major Floyd Jack and
Dean Robertson.
