J. K. aka Jake Matheny III, 75, died in his Houston, TX home March 2, 1995. Services were held last Monday at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston.

He was born March 1, 1920 in Murray, KY, and moved to Houston in 1922. He received a business administration degree from the University of Houston in 1940.

He married Mary Lou Hearn in 1941 and they resided in Tulsa from 1962 to 1966. He was a member of the Methodist Church throughout his life.

Matheny was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former industrial sales representative and he retired in 1985 as executive director of purchasing with the Houston Independent School District.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Carmen Gaines, Kiefer and four grandchildren.
