James Arthur (Art) Phillips, 72, 213 W. Marylynn, died Thursday at his home.

Services will be 4 pm Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Revs. David Houchin, Bill Morgan and Alvin Hedin officiating.

Burial will be at Green Hill Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

He was born Feb 2, 1918, in Hardin, Texas and married Frances Hatton on Nov 28, 1953, in Hardin.

He was a pumper-lease operator for Gulf Oil Co., for 38 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon.

Mr. Phillips was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. He had been a Sapulpa resident since 1961.

He belonged to the Masonic Lodge #48 in Trinity, Texas, and was a 32nd degree mason, and also was a member of Tulsa Scottish Rite.

Survivors include wife Frances; son Sanders Phillips of Sapulpa; daughters Debra Ann Widoner of Sapulpa and Frances Lynette Knight of Argyle, Texas; sister Onie Parker of Lake Charles, La.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for J. A. (Art) Phillips were held Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. David Houchin, Bill Morgan and Alvin Hedin officiating.

Burial was at Green Hill Memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were LeRoy "Pete" Chambers, Nulen Hatton, Jimmy Hatton, Don Cross and Pat Boyne. Deacons of First Baptist Church served as honorary bearers.
