Merija Podnieks, 87, of Sapulpa and Tulsa died Thursday, Nov. 16, 1995, at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today in Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bill Oldham will officiate. Cremation will follow the services, with Smith Funeral Home of Sapulpa in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Podnicks was born Aug. 4, 1908 in Latvia, a former Soviet Republic. She was a homemaker and an artist. She was a member of the Lutheran denomination. 

Survivors include a son, Andris "Andy" Podnieks of Sapulpa; two daughters, Ausma Frank of Ohio and Maija Wilgers of Arkansas City, Kans.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
