Paul N. Prince, 91, of Oswego, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2000 at Alden-Naperville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Naperville. Paul and Charlotte, his wife of 68 years were currently living at Rose Terrace Apts. in Oswego after long residences in Tulsa, OK and Cisne, IL. He was born on April 18, 1908 in Carterville, MO to the late Ivan Paul and Treva Rae (Boyd) Prince.

Paul was united in marriage on September 4, 1933 in Tulsa, OK, to the former Charlotte M. Bearden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He graduated from Drumright, Oklahoma High School in 1926. He worked for the Pure Oil Company (Union Oil Co.) in Cisne, IL as a purchasing agent from 1941 until 1967. After an early retirement from the Pure Oil Co. Paul worked throughout the Midwest and the South for Truckline Pipeline Gas Co. until his final retirement in 1978.

Paul was a member of the Cisne Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He also served as secretary on the Cisne School Board for three terms.

He loved competition and participated in many activities including managing the Cisne Pure Oil semi-pro baseball team, which had outstanding success in Southern Illinois. His hobbies included sign painting and guitar playing, as well as being an avid golfer while residing in Tulsa, OK.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte M. (Bearden); three sons, William (Jean) Prince of Oswego, Larry (Linda) Prince of Surprise, AZ, Thomas (Marilyn) Prince of Franklin, TN; seven grandchildren, Robert (Sharon) Prince of Ridgefield, CT; Robyn (Charles) Sutcliff of Yorkville; Michael Prince of Batavia; Ruth Prince of Lebanon, IL; Larry (Kathy) Prince of Chicago; Greg Prince of Nashville, TN; and Brian (Karen) Prince of Belleville, IL; 11 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Billy and Jackson Prince; Dylan and Casey Sutcliff; Heather and Justin Prince; Brittany Prince; Kelly, Kailey and James Prince; his brothers and sisters, Mary Krickhaus, Tom (Jane) Prince, Robert (Rosalie) Prince, and Marjorie (Arnold) Workizer, all of Joplin, MO, and Peggy Lemmons of Tulsa, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Russell, John and Roland; and by his sister, Betty Smith.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, with Rev. Robert McQuilken, Pastor of Oswego Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment followed at Peace Cemetery in Oswego.
